In Palo Alto, California, Eric Migicovsky and his team are successfully creating smartwatches for three years.
On 11 April 2012 they create a Crowdfunding campaign on an American platform to raise funds to produce their latest creation: the Pebble.
What is it? A customizable watch that can connect via Bluetooth to iPhone and Android devices.
What does it do? It warns you if you receive a call, a message or an e-mail, it displays text messages and it is connected to all your social networks, it has an accelerometer and it can run several applications (APPS) for fitness, cycling, running, golf...
It is also beautiful, it's water resistant and customizable with thousands of different wallpapers, and if it's not enoguh for you, you can develop new APPS and use them for you, or sell them on the dedicated online store.
Impossible? On the contrary! the designer has already working prototypes and if the crowdfunding campaign achieve the goal, production will starts instantly.
To let Pebble become a reality the funding goal is $ 100,000. On 12 April 2012, after only 28 hours from the beginning, the campaign reaches $ 1 million! Every previous record has been wiped out.
Developers listen to the community's feedbacks and requests: they increase the water resistance and upgrade the Bluetooth connection to the 4.0 version while the fundraising campaign is still going.
The Crowdfunding campaign ends on 18 May 2012 and reaches the amazing funding sum of $ 10,266,845, by 68,929 supporters donations.
